Camaraderie Celebrated at Caframo Picnic
Another afternoon of food and fun was held at the Caframo annual family picnic this month. Taking advantage of our beautiful location on Colpoy’s Bay, the weather cooperated for an enjoyable event for Caframo employees and their families. Sharing potluck dishes with quinoa chili and chicken on a bun, employees and their families enjoyed the giant bouncy slide, face painting, and kid’s crafts. The guest speaker provided an informative presentation on personal information safety, followed by diversions for both the young and young at heart of Bingo, mini-putt golf, and other favourite games.
A tradition at the Caframo picnic is to present the cheque to the previous year’s corporate charity. The Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association was Caframo’s charity for the 2016/17 year, with BPSA’s president Jim Martell receiving a cheque totaling $13,255. These funds will be directed towards building a workshop for their educational outreach to youth and community groups. We congratulate this year’s Charity Committee for their hard work organizing the fundraising events to reach this amount. The charity elected by Caframo employees for the 2017/18 year is Tea Time Quilters, a group of Bruce Peninsula women applying their love of quilting to provide handmade quilts and other bedding for people in need in the community.
High anticipation accompanied the unveiling of the second installment of Caframo’s 60th anniversary mural. Raffles, water balloon toss and the ever popular candy piñata rounded out the occasion. A big thank you is extended to everyone who contributed to making this another successful picnic.
