Caframo Picnic not Dampened by Weather

in Events, News

Boating safety presentation A last-minute change in venue in case of rain was no hindrance to the success of this year’s Caframo family picnic.  Caframo employees and their families brought their potluck dishes and spirit of fun to make this a memorable event. The extra space allowed a lively game of soccer on an improvised pitch, for both the young and young at heart, while other little ones enjoyed face painting and sweet treats.  Guest speaker Gord Klages presented an informative talk on boating safety, a fitting topic in view of the waters of Colpoy’s Bay.

A picnic tradition continued with the presentation of a cheque to last year’s corporate charity.  Caframo presented to Tea Time Quilters funds totaling $19,396 for a quilting frame and supplies, to support their work providing handmade quilts to Cheque to Tea Time Quilterspeople in the community who suffer from illness, accident, fire or other needs.  We applaud the charity committee for their success in reaching this amount!  We look forward to supporting the charity committee’s fundraising for this year’s corporate charity, the Bruce Peninsula Family Centre.   A not-for-profit daycare facility, the Bruce Peninsula Family Centre works to provide quality programs and trained staff in a supportive learning environment and also keep rates affordable for families in the north Bruce Peninsula.  Funds raised will be directed towards necessary kitchen renovations.

The afternoon included kids crafts, raffles, a water balloon toss, and Bingo all mingled with good company.  The falling rain did not hamper the kids’ excitement of the piñata, and the enthusiastic candy scramble that followed.  Congratulations and thanks go to everyone who helped this year’s picnic be an outstanding event.
