For 60 years Caframo has been manufacturing at our facility on Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1955, Caframo has developed into a global industry leader in laboratory stirrers, specialty fans, heaters and thermoelectric lighting. This privately owned Canadian company has over 80 employees who are proud to be a part of this manufacturing business located in the Bruce/Grey area.
Celebrations have been observed over several months, with the launch at our annual family picnic held August 26. Dignitaries, a special lunch and extra special kids’ activities marked our best ever picnic held on site on Georgian Bay.
September continued the festivities with a charter dinner cruise for all staff and spouses. Included was a tour of Flower Pot Island, a renowned geological feature of the area. One of the many highlights was the opportunity to watch a famous Georgian Bay sunset aboard the MS Chi-Cheemaun. The weather was fully cooperative to enjoy a lovely fall evening on deck.
To share in our celebration we welcomed the public to see our facility to an Open House event in October. This was a chance for our neighbours and local residents to get a behind-the-scenes look at Caframo and enjoy refreshments. Those who attended were able to tour the facility and see the collection of products that are manufactured right here in our local community.
Caframo is equally committed to community as it is to designing and building product. Corporately we support community initiatives, non-profit organizations and service clubs in Wiarton, Georgian Bluffs, Owen Sound and surrounding areas in Grey and Bruce Counties. In addition to our corporate giving, since 2000, our employees have selected one local charity each year. Employee efforts have raised over $90,000 for 15 different local charities over the past 15 years.
It is with excitement that we look forward to Caframo’s next 60 years and beyond. We are more than just a quality manufacturer; Caframo is a great place to work and here to stay.
