Caframo Picnic 2016

Celebrating Caframo, Camaraderie and Community

in News

An annual tradition, Caframo takes advantage of its picturesque location to celebrate a company picnic with its employees and their families.  The food was again a delicious combination of shared potluck dishes and meats catered by our local butcher shop.

With the weather cooperating, this year’s picnic was again a fun time spent together with our extended Caframo family. The presentation from our guest speaker Harriet Nixon addressed strategies for relaxation and stress release at work.  Activities included Frisbee Golf, Ladder Ball, and card games, with Bingo being a big hit.  Little ones enjoyed the face painting and making crafts.  With much anticipation, the first installment of our 60th anniversary mural was unveiled.  This section will be mounted onto the building’s exterior in the coming months.

Another part of the picnic is the presentation of our donation to the year’s corporate charity.  Employees vote to select the charity, and our Charity Committee organizes events at Caframo throughout the year to raise funds towards our corporate donation.  This year’s 2015-16 charity was the Wiarton District Optimist Club and we were happy to present a cheque in the amount of $8,807.52.  A representative receiving the donation cheque announced the entirety will be directed towards the Optimist’s project for a skateboard park for youth in our community.  The charity voted for the upcoming 2016-17 year is the Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association.

Rounding up this year’s events were the Water Balloon Toss and the candy-laden piñata.  Many thanks to those on the S&B Committee who planned and organized this fun event.
